A Berenàveu a a les fosques, Josep Maria Benet i Jornet analitza la submisa acceptació dels nous valors del franquisme en la societat de la postguerra. L’obra se centra en un grup de set personatges de la classe obrera, que viuen al Raval barceloní i representen les diferents actituds individuals i socials, degudament contrastades, davant del règim. A partir del relat d’una família, Benet i Jornet planteja una crítica al sector social dels que es van deixar convèncer i arrossegar per la imatge autocomplaent d’una societat del benestar servida per l’anomenada política desarrollista que la dictadura de Franco va promoure i difondre a partir dels anys seixanta.
